COLOBUS MONKEY RELOCATION / RELEASE - 2001 -- Reported by Bakari Garise
The Colobus Trust tries to work hand-in-hand with local hotels in primate management, best-practices for restaurants and outdoor food and overall pest control programmes.
The Trust was called in a tourist-related animal welfare case by a local Diani hotel plagued by an over-active colobus and creating uncomfortable tourist interactions.  Although it took over a month to capture, it was successfully released in Shimba Hills National Park, where there are several successful colobus troops.

Although the colobus monkeys in Diani do not eat human food, the Trust actively promotes safe food practices, avoiding feeding monkeys at any opportunity and encouraging tourists and visitors to do the same.
