Lucky Vervet Gets X-ray at Diani Beach Hospital + Pin Surgery -- 16 JULY 2003
After being trapped by a local resident because of his injury, Bakari successfully darted an adult male vervet in north Diani this morning. Volunteer Dan and Dr. Oscar Rarieya sped the patient to Diani Beach Hospital for X-rays to determine the exact fracture in the left leg. Successful pin surgery was performed on Wednesday by Dr. Nick De Sousa of WSPA at the KSPCA office in Mombasa.

Release (Sept 26th):  After spending eight weeks in our partner Sharon Forbs' rehabilitation cage (of Warendale Cottages, Diani), the male was released back into his troop.  The pinning was successful, his leg was strong and without a limp.  In spite of his time away from the troop, he has stayed as alpha male.  No conflicts were seen as he returned to the group.

After darting, Bakari waits for the anethesia to work Soundly sleeping
