Two
males - one adult and one juvenile of the same troop were electrocuted
simultaneously. When Colobus Trust arrived on the scene, both were
low to the ground. Not surprisingly, the transformer where they
were electrocuted was dangerously built in a residential area.
Both Colobus were darted and brought into the Trust's veterinary clinic.
The juvenile suffered superficial wounds and so was treated for shock
and released back into the troop later that afternoon.
Unfortunately, the adult suffered greater injuries. After three
days of captive treatment, he stopped feeding and the decision to
release him was made. Upon release, he began to eat though this
turned out to be temporary. Though he was followed regularly to
monitor his progress, we were unable to re-dart him due to his constant
position too high in the tree canopy. He went missing several
weeks after release.
