Baboon Proof Garbage Cage |
|
Everyone on the Kenyan South Coast needs to watch their
garbage. Sykes monkeys, vervets and baboons are notorious garbage
raiders of the most inventive and determined kind -- and poorly secured
garbage areas are magnets for primate problems. For more

This cage was destroyed by baboons. |

A local metal-worker was commissioned to fashion a high-quality metal
cage with deep legs that could be cemented into the ground. The
cage was then covered with finer wire mesh and binding wire. Primate-proof!!
To further pest proof the cage, the fine wire mesh was put on the floor
to prevent other undesirable pests entering such as rats. |
